Product Information

The world's first semi-automated device to measure and record measurements of Flow-mediated Dilation (FMD)

UNEX EF38 uses edge-tracking software which allows for the automated detection of the intima. Arterial diameters can thereby be tracked over the entire FMD test time, prior to occlusion for the determination of rest diameter, during the occlusion phase and each heart beat post occlusion. Meaning the true maximum arterial diameter post occlusion cannot be missed.

  • Robot-arm technology allows for reliable measurements with high reproducibility and low variability, confirmed by 200+ studies published
  • Quick and easy examination, suitable for use in large cohorts
  • Device software counts on edge-tracking software for the identification of dilation and flow values for each heartbeat over the entire measurement cycle
  • No additional cost per test – does not require disposable materials
  • CSV and Excel export files available, including all raw data and area-under-the-curve calculations
  • PC-based analysis software for pooling of data and retrospective “single-core-lab” analysis
  • No surrogate measure of endothelial function, but the gold standard made easier, faster and more reliable
  • Easy-to-adopt and operator-independent

UNEX EF38 operates via a robotic arm which guides the ultrasound probe via the software of the image trace automatically to the optimal position for derivation of the arterial image. As a consequence the reproducibility of test results is increased, as UNEX EF38 eliminates the operator-dependency in FMD. The ultrasound probe is H-shaped and thereby able to capture one long- and two short-axis images simultaneously.
